A to Z Leather: Proud Leather Suppliers to Randell Design Group’s Goodwood Barkitecture Adventure
We’re thrilled to share the story of a recent collaboration, which brought together bespoke craftsmanship, innovative design, and a passion for all things canine. Earlier this spring, A to Z Leather was approached by the Randell Design Group, led by Jo Kroes Randell, to create custom leather belts to include in their kennel design. The Randell Design Group kennel is inspired by the natural behaviour of dogs as they pace in a spiral before curling to rest. For their entry in the renowned Barkitecture competition—part of the Goodwoof event at Goodwood.
What Is Barkitecture?
For those new to the event, Barkitecture is Britain’s leading kennel design competition and a highlight of the annual Goodwoof festival. Each year, twelve world-class architecture practices are shortlisted to design and build unique, imaginative dog kennels, with all proceeds from the Bonhams Barkitecture Auction going to charity. The event is hosted by Kevin McCloud MBE and is a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and canine wellbeing. You can read more about Barkitecture and the 2025 event here.
Our Bespoke Belts for Randell Design Group
Jo Kroes Randell and the Randell Design Group were finalists among twelve shortlisted teams, and they commissioned us to design a bespoke leather belt to complement their innovative kennel, “The Burrow.” Our team worked closely with Jo to determine the ideal belt width and length, and we crafted the belt with antique brushed brass hardware for a timeless, elegant finish.
We provided a curated selection of orange leather shades, advising on which would best suit the Randell Design Group’s confidential design concepts. Ultimately, two bespoke belt lengths were hand-cut to the desired width, ensuring a perfect fit for their vision.

Feedback and Results
After the competition, we reached out to Jo to see how the event went. We were delighted to hear that the shade was a perfect match, and Jo shared images of the completed design with us. Look at how amazing this looks!

While the Randell Design Group didn’t win this year, their work was praised by Kevin McCloud from Grand Designs, and their kennel—featuring our bespoke belt—was auctioned for £1,000 to benefit charity.
